He married (2) MARGARET CORNER June 13, 1869 in Morgan county, Ohio. She was born June 10, 1832 in Belmont county, Morgan, Ohio, and died August 10, 1904 in Hocking county, Ohio. He married (3) NANCY BURNARD 1905, daughter of AARON BERNARD and MARY MCCULLOUGH. She was born 1855.   He also possibly married Mary Lovelace in Tennessee according to his son George Sherman Byers obituary.

George is the son of Elisha and Lobitha Shephard Byers, the brother of Benjamin Byers and also the brother of Martha Ann Byers Quinn. All fought in the 18th OVI. George W. Byers was a corporal in the 18th OVI,, buried in Hollister, Athens county, Johnson Cemetery. George was injured in the civil war. His brother Benjamin Byers was in Co. F of the 18th OVI. His brother in law's father John Quinn was in Co. A. and H. of the 18th OVI.

I take this present opportunity of scratching you a few lines to inform you that I am well at present hoping when those few lines may find you in the best of health. I will just say that I received your letter and was truly glad to hear from you. I will tell you what a time we had the 22 of this month. We had one of the biggest parties you ever seen we had hightown girls, had a big supper and we danced till one o'clock the next day and the snow fell fifteen inches deep and we had to take the girls home in a wagon. We had more fun than you ever seen.

I will just say that I haven't much to write this time, so I must close by asking you to write soon as this comes to hand, so no more at the present from
