Isaac was the son of Ephraim Jackson Vaught and wife Mary E. Richards. He was born in Wirt Co. WV in the town of Elizabeth. He moved to Murray City in the 1880's with a huge migration of Wirt county relatives including the Lee's, Vaught's, Whaley's, McFoy's, Richards, and more to work in the coal mine industry. He was married to Cora Turner then to Julia Reed. His children were Frank, Clarence, Clara, Ella, Myrtle, Cora and Dora. Wife Cora is buried in the Bethel Ridge Cemetery near Murray City, Ohio.
