Josiah Lee

brother of Peter Lee, Uncle of John and Mary Alice Lee Campbell Holt

Josiah Lee was married to Annie Rebecca Whaley

residents of Athens county in 1837 to 1849

WV deed records for The distribution of property included the following item: "One Share to
the heirs of Jesse Lee dec'd that is to say Hannah Lee the widow of the
said Jesse Lee the one ninth of the said last mentioned share in lieu of
her Dower and to the said David Cozad and NANCY Lee his wife, JOSIAH Lee,
PETER LEE, SALLY Lee, JESSE Lee heirs and Heiresses of Jesse Lee dec'd
the remainder of the said share to be distributed among them per
capita...."

In the late 1830's Josiah and his wife Anne Rebecca Whaley Lee were living in Meigs county, Ohio where they owned land in both Athens and Meigs counties.

In 1840 Josiah Lee was living on the land he purchased in Athens county in Carthage township. He appears in the 1840 census. In 1837 I found a deed sale of Josiah Lee and his wife Annie Rebecca Lee signed it too. That is how I know this is my Josiah Lee. So this line could be listed as first pioneers of Athens county.

By 1850 Josiah and Annie had returned to Wirt county WV in the area of Burning Springs
