We will miss a great lady in the passing of Mary Tighe, who was instrumental in helping those of us who were doing research on the WOGANS, PHILLIPS and GILLESPIES in Morgan County. BAKER, HOWARD, SMITH, WARTENBE

Looking for info on SMITH, BAKER,WARTENBE,& HOWARD families. The Smith's were brothers who built the 5 oldest colonial style brick homes in Morgan Co. They built these homes between 1820-1832. As I understand 3 of these homes are still being used today, 1 is being restored and 1 is in ruins. (Allen Stewart's overlooks Man's Fork of Meigs Creek) Nathan SMITH b.9/13/1786 m.Susan BAKER in 1810, she may have passed away in Jan.1820 during childbirth as he married M. Jane WARTENBE in March 1820. Jane gave birth to Nathan and Lydia A. SMITH. George B. & Amos SMITH children of William came to live with Nathan and Jane in 1822 when he became guardian. In 1828 Nathan married Susan HOWARD in 1828. Nathan and Susan HOWARD are buried in Gaysport Cem, in Muskingham Co.. David SMITH is probably a brother to Nathan as we have found them referenced together several times. Also Joesph and William. Nathan's Children = Elizabeth SMITH(Haynes), Mary Ann SMITH (Fowler), Natha Baker SMITH, Lydia Smith(?) and Susan HOWARDS children

Searching for information on: Simeon DUGAN B. 1829 d. August 16, 1899 in Rehoboth, Oh. Married Sarah Elizabeth JONES, 1850 in Morgan County, Oh. Children: Alfred W., Lafayette, Jeremiah, Debby C., Rosa Bell (m. George W. Wallace 1879), Allinda (m. John C. Daringer 1891), John W. (m. Callie Mae Latta 1893), John W. Dugan was a mayor of Nex Lexington, prosecutor, and teacher in the area., Isaac, Unknown name child. In the early part of Simeon Dugan's married life he was engaged as fireman on a steam boat on the Muskingum River; later in making salt, until 1878, when he moved upon a farm near Triadelphia, Morgan county, where he lived for seven years.On February 22d, 1865, he enrolled in the O.V.I. at Malta, Morgan county, and on March 8th, was mustered into service at Marietta, under Captain Barker, Company I, 195, in which service he remained until Dec. 18, 1865, when he received his discharge at Alexandria. He united with the U. B. church at about the age of 21 with which he was affiliated until 1885.

George CLARK,b 1789 in MaryLand d. May 27. 1854 in Morgan County, Ohio, buried in Centerville Cemetery, Morgan County, Ohio. his wife was Elizabeth ?. Their Children were: Hazelett, William, Alexander, Isreal, Emily, and Sarah. (Emily and Sarah may actually be granddaughters. The census records are unclear) I am also looking for information on William's wife, Sarah JOHNSON.

Asahal POMEROY and his wife, Rosamond WEBSTER. They were married in Morgan County, Ohio Nov 27, 1839. The only child I'm aware of is Lydia.

When John Keadle died 16 Aug 1854, in Morgan Co., Ohio, she married 2nd to William T. Hooper on in Morgan Co., Ohio, we're trying to find information on William T. Hooper.

When William T. Hooper, died she married 3rd Thomas Daughtery on 30 Aug. 1855 in Morgan Co., Ohio. We're trying to find information on Thomas Daughtery. Searching for the parents of Lorenzo D. Jones, who was born in Morgan County, Ohio on July 25, 1841. Lorenzo volunteered for service in the Civil War enrolling from 20 Sep 1861 to 16 Jul 1865. He served with Co. H, 17th Ohio Volunteers. He next appears in Linn County Kansas in 1870, and finally died in Kansas City, MO. He md. I have come into ownership of a marriage certificate belonging to Albert Richardson and Blanche Bone married in Morgan County Ohio on October 21, 1891. Ella Evans and JH Bone were the witnesses, Stephen (B or L)urnnings was the officiating minister. A diploma for Lucie Katherine Richardson, dated 1911 for a 'Mt Connelsville' (sorry, I can't read the caligraphy...) high school in Ohio was also with the certificate, as well as many family photos.
