BAKER, BARR, HOWARD, SMITH, WARTENBE

I am researching the Nathan Smith family from Morgan County , Ohio. They lived in Bloom Township in 1818. There were at least three brothers who built brick homes. Some of which are still being used today. I am wondering how to find out who owned the land before they lived on 1818. Also since Morgan County was established in 1817 then the 1810 census for that township would it have been Muskingham County? Nathan Smith and Barr owned section #4 (on a current map) also homes were built in sections #3, #2 , #12 and # 11. David Smith is also on some of our documents. Where were these Smith's prior to 1918?[CC Note: this should probably be 1818] Nathan was married to a Susan Baker ? then Jane Wartenbe in 1820 (no death date), and then married Susan Howard in 1828. Thanks, Connie

REED, SCOTT

I am looking for the family of Sarah Reed/Reid/Read. In my pondering on my gggrandparents, Sarah Reed and Thomas Scott, it appears they may have been in Morgan Co., Ohio in 1860. Sarah was possibly from Chesterhill,OH. Sarah Reed and Thomas Scott were married in Washington Co., Ohio on March 6, 1865 Thomas Scott was born in 1830 so I'm assuming Sarah would be born abt. the same year. I even think its possible that Sarah may have been married before Thomas and Reed may not be her maiden name. Thomas and Sarahs children were Luzerne,Orpha and Ira. Ira was my ggrandfather. They would have been Ohio between 1856 and 1863. Here is the section of a biography I have that mentions Sarah. (Thomas Scotts first wife Phoebe Drake died in Bristol Oh in 1854 on the way to Mercer Co., PA ,her daugher Angeline was born in 1851) "At least once he(Thomas A. Scott) went down the Muskingum River to Merritta, then up the Ohio, to Pittsburgh. He came to Mercer County with Mother(Angeline Lorinda Scott Hodge),was three years old at that time. They made their way to the Ohio River, across country, and took a boat to Pittsburgh, and on up to Mercer County,PA by stagecoach. Two years later (1856)he went back to Hebbardsville and married Sarah Reed(March 6, 1856 Washington Co.Ohio). I think she lived in or near ***Chester Hills, a town not many miles from Hebbardsville.********* They lived there several years********, and later moved to Mercer County,PA near New Vernon. The biography was written by Thomas Scott Hodge. Son of Thomas's daughter Angeline by his first wife Phoebe Drake. I can't tell you how frustrating this has been. First a document said Phoebe Drake was his wife. Then we found out he was also married to a Mrs. Emily Nichols Clutter. After researching both Phoebe Drake and Mrs.Emily Nichols Clutter in detail ,it turned out that he had married Sarah Reed between those two. Wouldn't it figure that my ancestor was born to his second wife Sarah Reed. So Thomas was married First to: Phoebe Drake-died 1854 children-Angeline and Howard second to : Sarah Reed-died abt.1862 or 3 children-Luzerne, Orpha and Ira* Third to: Mrs. Emily Nichols Clutter-died 1903 children- Elizabeth Scott,Marietta Scott,William Francis Scott,Virgil Scott Thomas, Emily and their children are buried in Ross Co., Chilicothe ohio. Thank-you kindly I really appreciate your help. Marsha
