George Ridenour died September 14, 1946
Dies at the age of 88yrs in Columbus
Nelsonville-George D. Ridenour 88 former resident of this community
died Saturday morning a the home of his brother Guy Ridenour, Columbus
following an illness of three months. Born in Greendale, Hocking
County, Mr. Ridenour was affiliated for many years as an official with
the former CHC & I co. then located in Buchtel. Following his
service witht eh coal firm he was a land agent and later engaged in oil
developments in the area with E. M. Poston, I L. Lampman and others.
A former service-safety director of Nelsonville, Mr. Ridenour was
also an operator of a garage in this city located on W. Washington St..
He was past secretary of the Hocking Valley Brewing Co. and a
charter member of the Nelsonville lodge of Elks before he moved to
Colubmus nine years ago. He is survived by his son in Columbus,
his wife died several years ago. Funeral Services will be
Conducted at the Warren Funeral home Monday at 2p.m. with the Rev. L.
E. Evans the pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Members
of the Nelsonville Elks have requested to meet at the lodge room Monday
at 1:30p.m. to attend the services. Burial will be made in
Greenlawn Cemetery. September 15, 1946
Nelsonville- Funeral services for the late George D. Ridenour 88,
former widely-known York Twp. resident who died Saturday a the home of
his son Guy in Columbus were conducted at the Warren Funeral home
local, Monday afternoon in charge of the Rev. L. E. Evans pastor of the
Church of Christ. Officers of the Nelsonville Lodge of Elks of
which Mr. Ridenour was a charter member since its institution in 1900
also conducted a memorial service .
Born in Junction City, Ohio Mr. Ridenour was a school teacher in his
younger years. Before coming to Nelsonville more that 40yrs ago
he was located at Buchtel, where he was employed in an official
capacity by the old CHC&I Co. He was the first Mayor of
Buchtel after its incorporation. His wife Mrs. Eva Ridenour died
in 1939 and soon thereafter, Mr. Ridenour went to make his home with
his son Guy in Columbus. Burial was made in Greenlawn Cem.

Dies at Nelsonville
Nelsonville- Mrs. Eva J. Ridenour age 78 died suddenly Sunday at her
home 794 Chestnut St. While in failing health for a number of years a
fall three weeks ago it is thought hastened her death. She is the
wife of George D. Ridenour and moved to Nelsonville 35yrs ago from
Buchtel. She was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Her husband former service director, and one son Guy, of Columbus
and two grandsons George and James Ridenour Columbus and two sisters
Mrs. Nannie Starr and Mrs Ida Munford both of Logan survive. The
body was taken to the Warren Funeral Home where Friends may call and
where the funeral services will be held Tuesday Afternoon at 2:00
